Naxos has established an agricultural production, serving not only the local citizens, but also mainland Greece. The local products are fresh pasteurised milk, fresh cream, butter, and a selection of cheeses like the Naxian Graviera, Mezethra [a hard cheese used for pasta], Manouri (kind of soft cheese), Xinotyri (sour cheese), Anthotyro (a soft cheese) and Naxian Kefalotyri (a hard salty cheese).
